Brief Introduction
Chongqing University of Science and Technology is a full-time public university of general education with a history of over 60 years and good reputation. It is mainly focused on engineering fields featuring petroleum, chemistry, metallurgy, material science, mechanics, electronics, safety and environmental protection, the breath of its academic endeavor covers sciences, engineering, economics, management, laws, humanities and arts. 1. History
Chongqing University of Science and Technology was combined by two universities that always kept a good reputation and established in 1951: Chongqing Polytechnic College and Chongqing Petroleum College School. In May, 2004, Chongqing University of Science and Technology was formally approved by the Ministry of education of the state. And it is a full-time public university of general education.
2. Discipline and programs
With “Respect, Care and Service” as the aim of its international education, Chongqing University of Science and Technology is dedicated to its brand of international education by good service and professional quality. It has 13 schools offering 49 bachelor’s degree programs and 2 Professional Master’s programs in the fields of sciences, engineering, economics, management, laws, humanities and arts. It has primary, intermediate and advanced Chinese language class including listening, speaking, reading and writing lessons as well as various cultural and Chinese practical courses.
3. Academic facilities and scientific research
Chongqing University of Science and Technology covers a total area of approximately 140 hectares and a total construction area of 530, 000 square meters, with teaching facilities worth 260 million CNY. Its library with the construction area of over 42,000 square meters possesses a collection of nearly 2.26 million books and a wide range of digital resources. The institution has a staff of 1546, with over 1100 full time academic faculty, two academicians, 560 professors and associate professors, 231 holders of doctoral degree. The university has undertaken plenty of research projects, including the National 863 major project, the National Natural Science projects, the National Social Science projects, and research projects cooperated with enterprises.
4. Great achievements
Chongqing University of Science and Technology has won 52 awards in state’s technological inventions and the provincial level scientific and technological progress, 155 granted patents, and more than 1100 research papers are retrieved and collected by the USA “Science Citation Index” and “Engineering Index”.
5. Communication and international cooperation
Chongqing University of Science and Technology has established partnership in teaching, scientific research, talent development, etc. with over 30 colleges or universities both at home and abroad. Working closely with industries, the university has signed cooperation strategic agreements in manufacturing, studying and research with more than 100 well-known domestic and foreign enterprises or companies, such as CNPC, SINOPEC, CNOOC, Wuhan Iron & Steel Company, SWA, Chongqing Iron & Steel Company, Covanta Energy Company (USA), and International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) (USA).
