Why Study at Civil Aviation Flight University of China

Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC) is the only full-time regular institution of higher education for civil aviation pilots, as well as technicians of other civil aviation specialties and high-quality applied professionals in engineering, management and arts required by national economy, under the direct jurisdiction of CAAC. With its headquarter in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, CAFUC, covering a total area of over 15500mu, has four flight training sub-colleges in Xinjin, Guanghan, Luoyang and Mianyang and two air terminals in Luoyang and Suining. It has set up 7 colleges, including College of Flight Technology, College of Air Traffic Control, College of Aviation Engineering, College of Air Transport Management, College of Computer Science, College of Foreign Languages, and College of Cabin Attendants, Sports Department, Simulator Training Center, Aero Engine Maintenance Training Center, Aircraft Repair Plant, Sanxing General Airline Co., Ltd., and Chinese Civil Aviation Scientific Research Base. It has formed an educational pattern of "flight orientation and comprehensive development" and become the largest "university of civil aviation" in Asia with world reputation.

(1) History

Civil Aviation Flight University of China is directly under the Civil Aviation Administration,  Its predecessor is Civil aviation administration of China aviation school. The same year in September, approved by the Ministry of National Defense, the school changed its name into Chinese people's Liberation Army fourteenth Aviation school. In May, 1963, the Ministry of Education reported to the State Council, and putted this university into the list of colleges and universities. In the same year in October, according to the direction of the Central Military Commission, the school changed its name into China's civil aviation senior aviation school. In December 1987, changed its name into Civil Aviation Flight University of China.

After nearly 60 years of construction and development, the school has become one of the world's largest flight training school. More than 90% of China's civil aviation pilots graduated from this school. The school is known as the cradle of Chinese civil aviation pilots.

(2) Discipline and programs

In the past 59 years, Civil Aviation Flight University of China has formed a number of significant brand program groups and advantageous disciplines under Science, Engineering, Literature, Management and law five disciplines. It is a test unit of the MPL courses promoted by the United Nations. 

The school has 7 national, provincial key programs, and 17 national or provincial high-quality courses. Among them, the flight technology program is an innovative experimental area of national talents training, and the Navigation Laboratory is  “Sichuan experimental demonstration center”. 

At present, the school has opened 7 master programs, 18 training directions, 7 international cooperation projects and 30 bachelor programs. Its teaching and personnel training cover fields of civil air transport and general aviation.

(3) Academic facilities and scientific research

The scientific research in Civil Aviation Flight University of China has maintained  vigorous development for many years. Over the past 5 years, the school has undertaken 33 national projects, such as 863 projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Fund, etc, and obtained 127 national and provincial Science and Technology Achievement Award.

The school now has 7 national and provincial scientific research bases including key scientific research base of China Civil Aviation Flight Technology and Aviation Safety, China Digital Simulation Joint Experimental Center, Plateau Flight Research Institute and Navigation Laboratory.

(4) Communication and international cooperation

Since the beginning of 1960s, Civil Aviation Flight University of China has began to receive international students, and has trained nearly 6000 pilots, maintenance personnel and air traffic controllers for 16 countries and regions in Asia and Africa.

At present, the school has established a wide range of exchange and cooperation relationships with many civil aviation institutes and universities in the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and other countries.
