Brief Introduction

Founded in 1956, Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine has become a higher school with distinctive ethnic features for undergraduates, in which it develops mainly in field of traditional medicine, secondly in medical science, pharmaceutical science, engineering and business management by integrating education, science, culture, medical service, health preservation, enterprise development as well as international education and cooperation.

(1). History

Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine started to enrolled undergraduates since 1964, and the overseas students since 1976, joint educated doctors and post doctors as well. It is one of the first universities which authorized by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China to set up programs for postgraduates after the China reform and opening up to the world.

(2). Discipline Construction

Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine has 14 key discipline of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, 3 key cultivation subjects of traditional Chinese Medicine of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 4 advantage characteristic subject and  6 key disciplines of Guangxi Province, 5 Guangxi medical and health key construction subjects, 5 National key clinical specialists and 9 key specialist of the State Administration of traditional Chinese Medicine. The school has 5 disciplines from first class which are authorized to deliver master title, and 44 second disciplines, 25 majors for undergraduates.

(3). Campus Overview

Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine has 2 campuses as Mingxiu and Xianhu, which are totally 1110.93mu (740, 361m2). The first phase of our new campus is finished and ready to be used. Right now we have 18000 enrolled full-time students. The overseas students including Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan are more than 200.

From our teachers and clinical practitioners there are 286 persons are with senior professional title. We have 1 National Reputed TCM Master, 33 National Reputed and Aged TCM Doctors, 19 specialists who obtain special government allowance from State Council of the People's Republic of China, 20 Reputed and Aged TCM Doctors in Guangxi as well as 64 Reputed TCM Doctors in Guangxi.

(4). Affiliated Hospitals

Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine has 8 affiliated hospitals, in which there are two AAA ranked hospitals offering 1200 Beds for patients. It has a serious of national reputed bases for production, study and scientific research, such as an affiliated medical school, an affiliated pharmaceutical factory, Chongyang Aged Flat, Yuan Zhi Yuan Massage Salon, Hong Zhong Health Club as well as Kang Ti Health Preservation Center.

(5). Significant Achievements

In 2003, Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine became the first one in Guangxi which was ranked A class by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in the evaluation of education level for undergraduates.

(6). Communication and Cooperation

We have established cooperative relationships with 53 colleges and universities as well as medical institutes from 17 countries and regions, among them there are over 70 agreements were signed, and hundreds students have been send abroad in the exchange programs with Asian colleges and universities.

Since 2006, 8 cooperative projects with foreign partners were executed by our university, 6 projects guided by governments were confirmed by Sino-Thai Joint Committee, and 2 projects by Sino-Vietnam Joint Committee. Those 2 projects were executed by our school and Hue College of Medicine, the first exchange of personnel was done. In 2008, Ruikang Affiliated Hospital established an International Cooperative Base for Chinese Medicine of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China, by which we offer high quality Chinese medical service and undertake international assignments among governments.

Since 1993, about 30 international professional conferences were held by our university, for example, International Manipulation Medicine and Traditional Therapy Conference for 14 times , Sino-Thai Conference on Traditional Medicine and Natural Health Products for 5 times as well as International Forum on Screening Functional Components of Agricultural Residues and Mangiferin Research for 2 times. All of those conferences have exerted a significant influence in the field of international medicine and Asian countries. Our university is also the co-organizer 2009, 2011 and 2013 China-ASEAN Summit Forum of Traditional Medicine.
