Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) has made remarkable contributions to the establishment and development of the People’s Republic of China. NUPT has been a strong contributor in scientific and technological innovation and social services, demonstrating particular competitiveness in such areas as “Modern Information Exchange and Communication Network”, “Mobile Telecommunications and Electromagnetic Compatibility”. The university is located in Nanjing, a historical and cultural city, and owns four campuses: Xianlin campus, Sanpailou campus, Suojincun campus and Jiangning campus. The university now offers education to around a total of 30000 students.  
 
(1). History 
 
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications was established in the year of 1958, with a history of more than 60 years including its original institution which could be traced back to the training class for the cadres of the General Postal Administrations during the wartime in 1942. In July of 1945, it was expanded into “the Postal School in Wartime”. In 1948, it was formally named East China Posts and Telecommunications School at Yidu (now called Qingzhou), and was affiliated to East China General Administration of Posts and Telecommunications. It moved south then from Jinan, Shandong to the city of Nanjing in the August of 1949. In 1958, it was converted into Nanjing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications upon the approval of the State Council. From May of 1972 to February of 1973, the college had once been renamed as Nanjing Telecommunications and Engineering Institute. In April 2005, it was renamed as Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Having been directly under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (now the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) before, the institute was in February 2000 turned over to the co-administration by the Jiangsu Government and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with the Jiangsu Government assuming the main administration. In October 2013, NUPT incorporated Nanjing College for Population Program Management, according to the official documents issued by Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government. 
 
(2). Discipline and programs
 
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) has 21 schools/departments, now runs 3 mobile post-doctoral stations, 3 first-level discipline doctorate programs, 14 second-level discipline doctorate programs, 10 first-level discipline master’s degree programs, 34 second-level discipline master’s degree programs, 13 Profession-oriented master’s degree programs (fields), and 50 undergraduate programs. Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications  is home to 7 National Special Major Trial Programs, 1 Trial Program of National Comprehensive Degree Program Reform, 1 Majors passed the National Engineering Education Professional Certification, 18 Jiangsu-funded Special Programs or trial ones, 8 National Excellence Initiative Programs, 5 Jiangsu Excellence Initiative Programs, 9 Jiangsu Key Programs. The university now offers education to around a total of 30000 students. NUPT has a total of 2300 faculty members including 564 supervisors to Ph. D and Master’s degree candidates. 
 
(3). Academic facilities and Scientific research 
 
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) is well equipped with teaching and a research facility. Presently, it has 1 State Key Lab Incubation Base jointly sponsored by Jiangsu Province and the MoE; 1 Key Lab jointly sponsored by Jiangsu Province and the MoE; 2 Engineering Research Centers of the MoE; 7 Jiangsu Key Labs; 4 Jiangsu Engineering Research Centers; 2 Jiangsu Higher Education Institute Key Research Bases of Philosophy and Social Sciences (including Incubation Programs); 2 Jiangsu Policy-making Consultancy Research Bases; 2 National Demonstration Center for Experiment Teaching; 2 National Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center; 1 National Engineering Practice Education Centers; 1 National Off-Campus Practice Education Center; 1 National Science and Technology Entrepreneurial Practice Base for College Students; 1 Jiangsu Innovation Platform Enhancement Program; 11 Key Labs of the former Ministry of Information Industry; 14 Provincial Demonstration Centers for Experiment Teaching and Provincial Practice Education Centers; 56 Central Government Specially Funded Labs (including the ones co-sponsored by the Central and Jiangsu Governments). Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications Library owns a collection of 2,000,000 paperback books, a good proportion of which concern such fields as information, telecommunications and electronics.
 
(4). Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications Achievement
 
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications has made proud achievements in producing talents. The undergraduate education of the university has been rated first-class by MoE. Over the years, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications has been persistent in strengthening its education system in efforts to turn out graduates with solid basics, all-round qualities and competitive skills. In recent years, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications has raked in bounteous prizes of various calibers in this regard: 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize of National Teaching Achievements; 17 Prizes of Jiangsu Teaching Achievements. The undergraduates of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications have brought home a total of 1328 prizes at the provincial or ministerial level and above. In 2010, 2011 2013 and 2014 championships of China Robot Competition and Robocup Open; Asian championship and the world’s Runner-up of NXP World Technologic Design Competition; First Prize of China Energy Conservation Competition for College Students. In the past three years, NUPT has undertaken a total of 2919 science and research projects at different levels, including National 973 Projects, National 863 Projects and National Natural Science Fund Projects; published a total of 9405 research papers, 4116 of which have been included by SCI, EI and ISTP; and won the Second Prize of National Natural Science Awards as well as the First Prize of Higher Education Institute Scientific Research Achievements (Social Sciences).
 
(5). Communication and international cooperation
 
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications actively promotes international exchange and cooperation. Over the past two decades, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications  has trained 26 groups of personnel from 29 countries and regions. The university has established long-term interschool academic cooperation with 16 foreign universities and research institutes, running 34 student exchange programs. Around 1000 international experts and scholars have visited and given lectures at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and about 30 of them are now teaching on a full-time or part-time basis here. With approval by the MoE, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications is cooperating with foreign universities to offer four joint undergraduate programs: Telecommunications, Digital Media Technology, Computer Science and Technology with New York Institute of Technology, and Information Management and Information System with Middlesex University. Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications also began recruiting overseas students into its post-graduate programs in 2013.
