Medical Internship at Sun Yat-sen University Zhongshan School of Medicine, China

MBBS program students are required to finish one-year medical internship and clinical rotation in the last year in the affiliated hospitals of the university which they study medicine in or in the hospitals of their home countries. 8 affiliated hospitals with over 11,000 beds provide clinical training to international students at Sun Yat-sen University Zhongshan School of Medicine. MBBS internship courses include Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Neurology, Psychiatry, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine, Medical Imaging, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Dermatology and Venereology, and Anesthesiology.
 
Medicine is a practical field, after 4-5 years’ study of basic medicine and clinical medicine; international students who apply for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree must finish 1-1.5 years internship under the instruction of a professor. They can choose internship in China or finish it when back to their home country. After 1-1.5 years clinical rotation, an examination needs to be passed to get MBBS Degree
 
International students can also finish their internship and rotation in hospitals of their home countries. If they go back to their home country or to other country after acquiring MBBS degree or other medical degrees, they may take part in Medical Licensing Examination directly and be a doctor after passing the exam and finish registration according to the local rules of the country.
