Brief Introduction 

Under the direct leadership of Ministry of Education of China (MOE), CUFE is one of the national "211" key universities (one of the 100 universities to which the Chinese government has attached top priority for the 21st Century). Central University of Finance and Economics is among the pilot universities building the national innovation platform for preponderant disciplines. The university has 42 undergraduate programs, 89 Master programs, 31 Doctoral programs and 11 professional degree programs. Currently, Central University of Finance and Economics registered 9105 undergraduate students, 3538 Masters Students, 594 PhD candidates and 387 international students in different majors including economics and Business. 

1. History 

Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) was founded in 1949, shortly after the founding of the People's Republic of China, CUFE, the first university of finance and economics in the Republic, was created by the China’s central government. The former name of CUFE was Central School of Taxation. Later, it went through several stages of development, from Central Institute of Finance, Central Institute of Finance and Economics, to Central Institute of Finance and Banking. In 1996, the Institute was officially renamed as Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) under the direct leadership of the MOE. Central University of Finance and Economics upholds "loyalty, unity, truth and innovation" as its motto, adhering to the philosophy of "pursuing truth and excellence". With over ninety-thousand graduates, Central University of Finance and Economics is known as "the Cradle of Giants in the Field of Finance and Management ".

2. Discipline and programs

Central University of Finance and Economics comprises more than 30 schools, departments and research centers and awards bachelor’s degrees in 42 academic disciplines including but not limited to Public Finance, Taxation, public Administration, Public affairs administration, Finance, International economics and trade, financial engineering, international trade/risk management, Accounting and CPA etc. Master’s degrees in 89 disciplines but not limited to Regional Economics, Public Finance, Finance, Industrial Economics, International Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Project Management, National Defense Economics etc. Doctoral degrees in 31 disciplines including but not limited to political Economics, National Economics, Regional Economics, Public Finance, Industrial Economics, International Trade, Labor Economics, Statistics, Econometrics etc. . In addition, four special programs are offered: MBA, MPA, MPA, and J.M. Five post-research programs are offered in applied economics, theoretical economics, and business administration, etc.

3. Academic facilities and scientific research 

Central University of Finance and Economics Beijing city campus is located at 39 South College Road, Haidian District in downtown Beijing, the campus is surrounded by areas boasting rich educational, technological and cultural resources, flourishing shopping centers, as well as convenient transportations. Campus has comprehensive facilities comprising of modern teaching buildings, laboratories, library, campus network, and other facilities. In November 2010, it was reported that the campus had a classroom area of 8.82 acres, 37 modern laboratories such as Waterloo-CUFE Industry Research Laboratory, covering an area of 0.93 acres. 

Additionally, 2,457 instruments are available for teaching and research. To satisfy the recreation need of teachers and students, the campus is equipped with modern facilities such as a running track, football field, basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, National Physical Fitness Measurement Center, a student center, and an activity center for faculty members. 

Built in 2007, the Shahe suburban campus is located 30 km north of the City campus. The total area of Shahe campus is nearly six times that of the City campus and its natural beauty of nearby areas contributes a quiet and comfortable environment. According to the development plan of Central University of Finance and Economics, Shahe campus will become the main campus when it is completed. It will cover more than 9.88 acres, including teaching, research, living and sport areas. It aims to provide a high-standard and modern facility in a beautiful garden environment.

4. Central University of Finance and Economics Achievement

5. Communication and international cooperation

Driven by internationalization strategy, Central University of Finance and Economics has established relationships with more than 120 international organizations and Universities. It has a strong relationship with University of Pennsylvania, Chicago-Kent College of Law , Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Stevens Institute of Technology, State University of Georgia , University of Houston-Victoria, University of Maryland, University of San Francisco, Northwestern University Rutgers and The State University of New Jersey all in United state of America (USA). In Europe CUFE has established relationship with many universities in UK, Switzerland, Ukraine, Netherland, Italy, France and Russia. Moreover, Central University of Finance and Economics have relationship with universities in Australia, South Korea, Japan, Singapore etc.  Since 2006, we have offered professional training services to more than 300 government officials from 77 developing nations. Central University of Finance and Economics is also one of the first universities chosen to award government-sponsored scholarships for Chinese students wishing to study abroad. In 2005, Central University of Finance and Economics was accredited by the MOE to confer international scholarships to assist and encourage foreign students in China. Central University of Finance and Economics’s goal is to achieve responsible, managed growth through continuous service improvement, thereby developing a unique, multi-disciplinary research institution of international standing.
