Zhejiang Wanli University (ZWU), a history of 60 years, is a new type university with a reform on the management mode and operation system based on average provincial universities, has been innovatively run by 10 years, and is regarded as “the practical example of modern university system with Chinese characteristics” by education experts. (1) History
In September 1950, the Zhejiang provincial Ningbo agricultural technology school was built. In 1999 the Ministry of Education agreed to the formation of Zhejiang Wanli College. On 2002 the school was upgraded to Zhejiang Wanli University and received a bachelor. The school ranking by the Wushu Lian presided over the “2014 China University Evaluation ", the 2011 Chinese University Ranking Award comprehensive strength ranked 394.
(2) Discipline and programs
Zhejiang Wanli University consists of 16 faculties and colleges, such as Business School, Law School, and a Faculty of Biological & Environmental Sciences, providing 2 postgraduate programs and 38 undergraduate programs which comprise disciplines as wide as economics, law, literature, science, engineering, agriculture and management. At present, there are more than 20,000 full-time Chinese students and 254 international students at Zhejiang Wanli University.
(3) Academic facilities and scientific research
Zhejiang Wanli University has around a staff of more than 1,000 and 400 teachers with senior professional titles including experts enjoying special allowance of state council, academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, “new century’s excellent talents support plan” by Education Ministry, provincial “151” talents, famous university teachers, Yongjiang scholars and provincial young academic leaders. Zhejiang Wanli University has set up a key provincial laboratory, known as the Fundamental Course Teaching Demonstration Center for Electrical & Electronic Processing and four key municipal laboratories. In addition, Zhejiang Wanli University has 20 research institutes and many key provincial and municipal specialties and disciplines. The university library houses a collection of more than 1,200,000 books; about 2,500 journals both in Chinese and foreign languages; and is equipped with “the Closed Mirror Station for China Academic Journal Net”, the “Wanfang Data Service Center”, and an additional 6,000 digital periodicals available on the university network.

In 2016, a total of 9 items of projects get rewards of public welfare Technology Application Research Project in Zhejiang Province at Zhejiang Wanli University. In 2015, Zhejiang Wanli University gets 8 projects of Zhejiang Province Natural Science Fund Project, including 5 items of the general project and 3 items of the Youth Science Fund Project. In addition, Zhejiang Wanli University gets 3 projects of philosophy and Social Sciences in Zhejiang Province, 1 project of soft science research project of Zhejiang Province, 3 projects of philosophy and Social Sciences in Ningbo, and 3 items getting Second Award of Ningbo philosophy and Social Sciences outstanding achievement, 1 item getting Third Awards.
(5) Communication and international cooperation
Over the last few years, Zhejiang Wanli University has actively participated in international exchanges and co-operation with other universities, successively establishing relationships with more than 20 universities in the UK, France, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Ukraine, among others. Furthermore, Zhejiang Wanli University has established a close partnership with the University of Nottingham. Thanks to joint efforts, a new cooperative university, the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China (UNNC), which follows the education system of the University of Nottingham, UK, has been set up. At present, there are about 254 international students enrolled at Zhejiang Wanli University.
