Why Study at Guangxi University, China

Guangxi University was founded in 1928. The first president was Dr. Ma Junwu, a celebrated educationalist, scientist and democratic revolutionist in China.
In 1997, Guangxi University and Guangxi Agricultural College consolidated into one. The new Guangxi University was designated as “211 Project” university in 1999 and approved to be a cosponsored university by Ministry of Education and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government in 2004.
 
(1) Campus view
 
The green tree shade, scented blossoms, fragrant grasses and rippling lakes bring a beautiful and quiet environment to the campus. Covering the campus area of 307 hectare and area of buildings of 1.3309 million m2, Guangxi University boasts the facilities for teaching and research valued at 529 million Yuan and collection of various books of 5.29 million with printing books of 3.234 million, electronic books of 2.058 million, Paper periodicals in Chinese and foreign language of over 4000, full-text electronic periodicals of 17 thousand.
 
(2) Discipline and programs
 
Today, Guangxi University has developed into a region-featuring research university with 32 colleges. It boasts 97 undergraduate majors, master degree station of 36 primary disciplines and 224 sub-disciplines, doctoral degree stations of 8 primary disciplines and 65 sub-disciplines as well as 10 postdoctoral research centers. Currently the University has 3 national key subjects and key cultivation subjects, 6 national key developing subjects for "211 Project", 21 provincial key subjects . 
 
(3) Academic facilities and scientific research
 
Adhering to the core of discipline construction and the platform of “211 Project”, Guangxi University strengthens its discipline construction with continued efforts. Through years’ hard work, the equipment conditions are greatly improved; the research fields are more specific and the features of the discipline are more distinctive. With the sharply overall improvement, some disciplines are in the advanced level in China and some even in internationally advanced level. It also boasts 1 state key laboratory, 1 state key laboratory cultivation base, 15 provincial-level key laboratories, engineering research centers and research bases, 19 Guangxi key laboratories and research bases.
 
(4) Communication and international cooperation
 
While we continue to enlarge scale for international students, Guangxi University has signed agreements of cooperation and exchange with 153 higher education institutions from 31 countries and regions, including the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, Japan and so on. Up to now, over 700 faculty members have been abroad for study, research and teaching, and at the same time, the university has invited large numbers of international experts and scholars to teach, lecture and conduct research here. In December 2006, Guangxi University and the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University of Thailand co-founded Confucius Institute in Suphan. On September 22, 2010 Guangxi University established Tallinn Confucius Institute with Tallinn University in Estonia.
