Zhejiang Government Scholarship

The Zhejiang Government Scholarship sponsors students who are studying at or apply to study at higher education institutions (HEIs) in Zhejiang Province, including Zhejiang International Studies University (ZISU).

1. Categories of Applicants

International students who apply to study or are studying at ZISU pursuing a bachelor degree, a long-term non-degree program (one or more years). 

2. Criteria & Eligibility 

1). Basic requirements 

Applicant for bachelor’s degree program should have obtained senior high school diploma or equivalent education, and be under the age of 30.

2). Other requirements 

a. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.

b. Applicants should comply with the laws and regulations in China, and comply with the rules and disciplines of ZISU.

c. Applicant should have a good knowledge of Chinese and provide proofs such as HSK certificates or other Chinese learning or Chinese examination certificates. For those applying for courses taught in English, should have a good knowledge of English and could provide proofs such as TOEFL, IELTS or English examination certificates.

d. Applicants should have a good academic record which is among top of the class.

e. Applicant should NOT be awarded with other Chinese Government Scholarships of all levels.

ZISU Scholarships and Awards

To encourage outstanding students from all over the world to come and study at ZISU, level up the categories of international students, advance the international education cooperation, ZISU hereafter sets up the scholarships and conducts them in an open, fair and just manner, including:

A. Full Scholarship for New Students (degree students only)

B. Tuition Scholarship for New Students (for degree and non-degree students)

C. Merit Scholarship (for degree and non-degree students)

D. Excellence Awards (e.g. HSK Award, Activity Award, Social Service Award)

The quota of Full Scholarship for New Students takes up to 5% of all registered international students. Tuition Scholarship for New Students and Merit Scholarship are further divided into First Class, Second Class and Third Class Scholarships, which respectively account for 3%, 5% and 8% of total students. Vacancy is allowed. The quota of other scholarships is subject to change based on the actual situation.

1. Eligibility Requirements

1). Basic Requirements

a. Full-time students of international nationality with good body and mental health, no criminal records or misconduct.

b. Only self-funded students with no tuition debt, receiving no other scholarships at the same period, could apply for the scholarships except the Excellence Awards.

c. Non-degree applicants for scholarships have to complete study at ZISU for more than 1 semester, and will continue to study at ZISU for the next semester except the Excellence Awards.

d. The Graduating degree students are not eligible for the Merit Scholarship.

2). Additional Requirements

a. In principle, applicants for Full Scholarship for New Students should have GPA4.0 on a scale of 5 and GPA3.5 on a scale of 4; 

b. For Tuition Scholarship for New Students should have GPA3.5 on a scale of 5 and GPA3.0 on a scale of 4. Applicants of English-taught programs should have TOEFL iBT: 90/IELTS: 6.5(Full Scholarship for New Students) and TOEFL iBT: 85/IELTS: 6.0 (Tuition Scholarship for New Students), or have other proof with equivalent language level. 

c. For Merit Scholarship: degree students should have completed all the course credits for the past academic year and non-degree students should have completed all the course credits for the past semester. The minimum average score varies with the student category and the scholarship class. And the absence in one semester (including sick leave, casual leave and truancy) should be less than 6 periods.
