Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has 15 sites for high-quality clinical education and practice, including affiliated hospitals, research institutes, indirectly affiliated municipal hospitals and specialty hospitals. There are seven affiliated hospitals: Longhua Hospital, Shuguang Hospital, Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Chinese & Western Medicine, Shanghai Municipal TCM Hospital, The Putuo District Central Hospital, Shanghai TCM-Integrated Hospital and Shanghai Seventh People’s Hospital.

Besides, there are also two research institutes: Shanghai Acupuncture & Meridian Research Institute and Shanghai Qigong Research Institute. Other municipal hospitals include Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai First People’s Hospital and Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital. Five specialty hospitals contain Xiangshan Hospital, Tianshan TCM Hospital, Huangpu District Hospital of Integrated Chinese & Western Medicine, The Jingan District Central Hospital and The Putuo District Central Hospital and Putuo TCM hospital.

Shanghai Shuguang Hospital

Shanghai Shuguang Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the first class general hospitals in China with long history. It was established in 1906 and once named Siming Hospital, sponsored by countryman association of Ningbonese, Zhejiang Province. In 1960, it was merged with Shanghai No.10 People’s Hospital (western medicine hospital) and Shanghai No.11 People’s Hospital (T.C.M. hospital).

As a famous hospital with modern management, it has won many fames, for example, Shanghai Civil Unit for 11 times from 1986 to 2004, national model T.C.M. hospital, one of the top 100 national hospitals in 1999. The hospital has completed accreditation of ISO 9001 in 2001 and became the pioneer TCM hospital accredited by ISO9001 in China.

Shuguang Hospital is divided into two parts: eastern and western branch. The western branch, located in the central city is with the construction of 50,766 square meters and has a capacity of 600 beds. The eastern branch, located in Zhanjiang Hi-tech Park, Pudong New Area, was opened on Apr. 23, 2005. It is with construction of more than 83.000 square meters and has a capacity of 720 beds.

Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of TCM

Founded in July 1960, Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the four oldest TCM clinical centers in China. Over 50 years, Longhua hospital has been dedicated to development of TCM and is known nationwide for outstanding patient care provided by its physicians and staff. With the distinguishing feature and prominent advantage of TCM, Longhua Hospital serves as an institute-affiliated medical center that combines health care, education, and scientific research. It is regarded as an exemplary national model TCM hospital and is categorized as Shanghai grade III level A hospital. On December 2008, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine identified it as national TCM clinical research center for studies in Malignant Tumors and Bone Retrograde Affection research.
