On-Campus Hostel
Sun Yat-sen University offers international students on-campus accommodation and International Student Dormitory is special set for them. There are single rooms and double rooms available to overseas students. The well equipped dormitory building executes hotel style management. For the international students who choose double rooms, the roommate could be assigned by the University or chosen by himself/herself after reaching the University. Separate dormitories are provided for male and female students. Students living in the International Student Dormitory should observe Regulations on International Student Dormitory Management. Anyone who violates the regulations shall be penalized accordingly.
The hostel building equips with independent bathroom, restroom, telephone (200 Card and IC Card are required to use the telephone), air-conditioner, potable water machine and Internet port.
Housing off the Campus
Living off campus is also allowed for international students at Sun Yat-sen University.
International students may choose to live off campus, but they must register at the International Student Office (ISO) by writing down the home address and telephone number. They must also register at the local Police Station and apply for the “Registration Certificate of Temporary Residence for Visitors” in accordance with the Chinese laws. While international students are living off campus, please make sure that housing situation is trustworthy, the apartment is in a good and safe environment, and the rental procedures are completely legal. Let the landlord register at the local Police Station with the rental permissions. In short, the foreign student’s rental procedure should be complete, legal and trustworthy.
Some students’ addresses and contact information change while they are studying at Sun Yat-sen University, in this case, international students should promptly report their new address, phone number, and e-mail address to the ISO because this office will often send out notification. When such situations arise, it is essential that their information in the database be updated. The International Student Office maintains a strict policy of privacy over individual’s contact information.
