Medical Internship at West China Medical Center of Sichuan University

West China Medical Center of Sichuan University offers six-year English-medium MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) Program for the international students. This program is composed of two years of basic medical sciences courses, three years of clinical courses and one year of internship training. One-year medical internship and clinical rotation is compulsory to acquire MBBS degree since the practicality of medical science. Similarly, the Center also offers five-year English-medium Bachelor of Stomatology Program for international students. And in the last year of the program, students are required to accomplish one-year medical internship and clinical rotation.
 
West China Medical Center of Sichuan University has four affiliated teaching hospitals. The four affiliated hospitals are all level three first-class hospitals and play a great important role in local people’s life. The four affiliated hospitals are West China Hospital, West China Second University Hospital (West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital), West China Stomatology Hospital and No.4 West China Teaching Hospital. These affiliated hospitals provide international students’ medical training and clinical rotation to lay the foundation for their qualification as a doctor after graduation. The internship can either be done at the university hospitals or in one’s home country in a hospital recognized by the Ministry of Health of the concerned country or passed the qualification evaluation by Sichuan University.
 
After finishing one-year internship, international students will greatly improve their practical skills and better prepare for being a doctor in the future. At that time, an examination needs to be passed after one-year practice to get MBBS degree.
