3. Classification

Nondestructive testing is divided into conventional detection technology and non conventional detection technology. Conventional detection techniques include Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy current Testing (ET). Non conventional detection technologies include Acoustic Emission (AE), Infrared (IR), Holographic Nondestructive Testing (HNT), etc.

Commonly used nondestructive testing methods are visual inspection, radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, and magnetic particle testing and liquid penetration testing four. Other non-destructive testing methods: eddy current testing, acoustic emission testing, thermal imaging, infrared, leak testing, AC field measurement techniques, magnetic flux leakage testing, remote field testing methods, etc.

4. Application Principles

Nondestructive detection uses sound, light, magnetic and electric properties, without prejudice or does not affect the detection performance under the premise, examine the inspection and quarantine of whether there is a defective or uneven, to show the defect size, location, nature and quantity of such information, and then determine the inspection object technology (such as qualified or not, the residual life).

Nondestructive detection technology not only ensures food quality and safety supervision in the field of food processing, such as the quality changes of material purchase, changes in the quality of machining process and circulation process, but also saves energy and raw material resources, reduce production cost, high finished product rate and the labor productivity plays a positive role in promoting. As a new detection technology, it has the following characteristics: no need of a large number of reagents; no need to pre process work, sample preparation is simple; immediate detection, online detection; no damage to the sample, no pollution, etc.

Nondestructive testing technology has a very wide range of applications in the industry, such as aerospace, nuclear industry, weapon manufacturing, machinery industry, shipbuilding, petroleum chemical industry, railway and high speed railway, automobile, boiler and pressure vessel, special equipment and customs inspection and so on.
