Ocean Oil and Gas Engineering Program in China

1. Introduction

Offshore Petroleum and Gas Engineering ( Ocean Oil and Gas Engineering ) program mainly refers to offshore drilling and offshore petroleum production technology. It trains inter-disciplinary talents who have theory and technology of petroleum and gas exploitation, offshore drilling and offshore petroleum production.

2. Main Courses

Petroleum reservoir engineering, natural gas engineering, petroleum technology and economics, fundamentals of marine engineering, offshore petroleum engineering, new technology of offshore petroleum engineering, etc.

3. Knowledge and Ability

1). students should have a solid foundation of physics and chemistry;

2). students should master planning, design and management of petroleum and gas storage and transportation;

3). students should know about the theoretical frontier and development trends of petroleum and gas storage and transportation engineering;

4). students should master the basic methods of literature retrieval, data query, with a certain ability of doing scientific research and practical work;

5). students should have international vision and have a certain ability of cross-cultural communication, competition and cooperation.

4. Employment Direction

Graduates can be engaged in planning, exploration and design of petroleum and gas storage and transportation, management and research of construction project, petroleum product application, marketing and management of petroleum in national development and planning department, transportation planning and design department, petroleum and petrochemical enterprises and urban gas enterprises.

1). Offshore well drilling and completion engineering

2). Theory and technology of the development and exploitation of marine oil and gas fields

3). Development and exploitation project of marine unconventional natural gas hydrate 

4). Marine oil and gas gathering and transportation engineering

5). Security and environmental protection of marine oil and gas engineering 

6. Practical Teaching

Geological practice, mineral separation test, curriculum design, cognition practice, production practice, graduation practice and graduation design, etc.

7. Training Requirement

Students mainly study the basic theory and basic knowledge of development, processing and utilization of natural mineral resources, get basic training of planning and design, equipment selection, calculation, testing and research, and can be engaged in work related to offshore oil and gas engineering.
